Google Apps

One of the applications that I liked about google was the calender. I am on the go all the time but like to go on my email all the time. This is a great way to get reminders of things that I have forgotten about and keep track of things that I have to do. I also liked that if I am using a computer that does not have word to write a paper, I can just log into my google account and write it on google word. I did not find much differences between the two which was great. It is a great and free way to get homework done.

Podcast

Podcasts are becoming extremely popular. Podcasts can be used to listen to a lecture or a presentation. You can download a podcast to your computer or to your ipod that we learned in class. You can also create your own podcast on your computer and edit it. This is a good way for students to listen to a lecture anytime and review what happened in a class. Podcasts are becoming more popular because of the accessibility and easiness of the program.

Webquest

Webquests are another great teaching tool. If you are going to do a webquest gives the students an opportunity to explore websites and do activities based on a certain topic. I did mine on a math activate that I thought would be very beneficial for teachers to look at and do in the class. This will help students with special needs and will keep every students attention span. This is a great tool for teachers to use and share ideas. You get one free month if you sign up and if you want to purchase the program it is very inexpensive.

D2L

D2L is a good way for teachers and students to communicate what is going on the class. The teachers can put up assignments and worksheets. This is also a way for students to get feed back on assignments that they can put in the dropbox. You can also have the students take quizes that are times and not timed. This makes it easier for teachers and less time consuming.

Wiki

1. What did you find interesting about the wiki concept?

I like the idea a Wiki because anyone can add material to a document. I like the idea of editing information, but the wrong person could do it and the information wouldn't be accurate anymore. If you find something that is new and updated it is nice that you can let people know that information by editing the information.

2. Banning Wikipedia/ Practice of limiting information by format?

In college we were told not to you Wikipedia because it is not a credible source. Anyone can change the content and we don't know if the information is creditable.

3. Which Wiki did you edit?

The fire engine may have several methods of pumping water onto the fire that is burning. I looked up firetrucks and added the last two words.

Yahoo vs Google

Yahoo and Google have both come up with ways to use word documents and spreadsheets online. I found out in class that Google and Yahoo had these applications. By having these documents online is great because you can access them from any computer. This is a great money saver for people who can not afford to buy the disks to put them onto your computer. I hope more people learn about Google and Yahoo applications.

More Fun With Flickr

I recently used more fun with flickr and used the image generator. It is cool to use this device because you can add creative materials and objects. You can look at different ideas that people have to show ways to add photos in slideshows and other things. You can upload many things to your blog like clocks, and photos.

Sharing Photos

What do I think of sharing photos online? Well, I think sharing photos online has its positives and negatives.

Positives:

~Any one can see your pictures
~You can look up different peoples pictures
~It would be less storage for your computer
~You can never lose your pictures

Negatives:

~Someone could find your personal information
~Anyone can look at your photos so you need to know what ones your putting up
~If the web page does down you will lose all your photos if you dont have back up photos somewhere else

Flickr

Flickr is a great way to find pictures and to share them with other people. It could be used to find pictures for projects or to show pictures for presentations. Flickr lets you use keywords for finding any type of pictures. Flickr is a good way to show people where you have gone and vacations you have taken. Flickr is a good way for school age kids to find pictures for projects. Flickr is a good resource.

Class

Class has been fun so far. I have learned a lot about using the smart board and think that every teacher should have one in there classroom!

Social Prompt

Today there are many people that are using facebook to communicate with others. I have a facebook, like most other college students.

A group that I might join on facebook would be ones like Maple Grove Senior High School (MGSH), which is the school I attended. I am also in the Student Council for Exceptional Learners group on facebook. I joined these groups to get updates is there is anything about what people might be doing or anything.

I think that facebook is still growing because there are so many people who have it and want to communicate with people who live far away. My mom has one and talks to relatives who live in other states and where do I too.

I think facebook is a great way for people to stay in touch.
